Facebook comment, frustration

On facebook yesterday, I wrote on my wall, and put the link to this blog and asked if anyone had good suggestions for improving my blog. Well a friend of mine from college, we were both in the same fraternity, wrote this:
"find the box closest to your house...I have been reading your postings for months and I have reached my breaking point. One solid month of this plus eating meat, veggies, nuts, and some fruit, you will never bitch about weighht loss or whatever for the rest of your life. Man up brother! If you need direction call or email me..."

It really hit me. I read it at work on my break on my phone and I couldn't stop thinking about it and why he said it. I can't figure out if he's being an asshole or he is just think he knows everything about working out and nutrition because he is part of the Fire Department in NY. In the comment is also has the website www.crossfit.com, which I am not sure what thats about. As far as I can tell unless your in boat camp or something, why would anyone go through that voluntary. I am all about exercise, but I need to make it fun otherwise I won't do it.

I think some people just don't want to think about nutriotion or exercise and hate it when I put things up about the subject on facebook and twitter. I did get a couple comments from fellow bloggers which cherred me up.

Food Log for the day:
Breakfast:
4 cups of fat free milk
2 cups of of wheat thins with cheese and sauce dip

Wild Berry Shake with Orange Juice

Snack:
Chicken Soup Mix

Dinner:
2 pieces of Grilled Chicken

Snack:
1 cup of 1% milk
1 100 calorie packs of Lorna Doone

It sort of sounds to me as if he was trying to get you to try whatever program he is using?

I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought. I get quite a few email comments about what I should and should do/eat/write about etc. Those are your public pages, post what you want. But, they can also choose to respond however they want, and that's just the internet for you :)

Im with Lori, forget it. If what you are doing works for you dont change a thing. If you need help with diet and nutrition ask...I felt that you were asking for ways to make your blog better (look wise?) on Facebook- but I really dont know much about doing all of those fancy things so I didnt respond.

That guy sounds like a first class A-hole (if there as such a thing as one being "first class").

Ignore him, he's just a jerk. Probably jealous of what you've accomplished.

I get people telling me what I should do too, how to do what I do better. Most of them are kind, and they mean well, but we each have to find our own path on this journey.

You're doing great. Just keep doing what you're doing. :)

Perhaps I'm dumb, but I don't get what he's saying. What is the box closest to your house?

I usually ignore stuff like this. I think the more we personalize our journey, the better it will work. So I just smile when people give me advice and let it go in one ear and out the other.

I did think he was rather rude with part of his comments. Whatever, though. Just ignore him.

The "box closest to my house" is a flower box. Hmmmmmmmm... maybe he's telling you to eat more flowers...

Cryptic comments and a link to another site? Yeah, just ignore him. He's a jerk.

Not like we don't know how to deal with jerks :)

To clear up what the weez meant - Crossfit is a type of circuit training - they train in facilities termed a box (warehouse, old building). Much like fightclub. The workouts are really intense, and they are a good thing to incorporate into any training regimen, but its not for everybody. They usually have three or four exercises (burpees, pullups, walking lunges, cleans, mile run), which they do a number of sets depending on the difficulty of the circuit. I'm not a crossfitter in any way, but I am a trainer and dietition - and I just challenged weezel and told him to name the circuit at the reunion. We'll see how tough he really is! Keep it up brother - let me know if you ever need a hand. And be easy on the wheat thins lol. Change it to 1/4 box and wash em down with a shake instead. Its all about meal timing, consistency, glycemic load, and most importantly having a plan. You're doing great with the food diary - try using the picture phone method as well. Really makes you more aware of what you are eating - helps with healthier options. Good luck!

He probably thought he was helping you out. Sometimes it's hard to understand what people are really trying to say thru email or comments unless you're talking to them face to face. I try not to read too much into what people write because you never know what their real intent is.

Don't worry about it. He probably is just all fueled up on exercise, meat, fruit, veggies, and life. :)

People can be so clueless sometimes in their attempt to "help us". Everyone is an expert when it comes to weight loss. You are the expert when it comes to what works best for you.
Try not to let him get to you too much. If he continues to bug you, you can always "hide" him on FB.
I hope you have a wonderful day today!

Looks like he was trying to recruit you to HIS plan. And none too elegantly, either. :)

Do what works for you. Screw anyone that doens't like what you tweet about or post on facebook. It's for you. If they don't like it they don't have to read it. God I love being an old opinionated woman!

Dude....a quart of milk and wheat thins for breakfast???? I'm laughing here...want me to tell you about Weight Watchers? *g*

I'm confused about the box ... LOL

Write back a message that makes no sense. 'My box is a tree. It grows diamonds and ankle socks.' LOL

Blogs are for what we each as individuals want to say. You be you.

I think in his own less than elegant way he was trying to help, mainly by getting you to change over to his plan. Just nod and say uh huh, and keep doing what you're doing. Looks like you're doing just fine with your own plan!
And thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment on my blog. Glad you like my youtube video clip too. It's almost time for me to post a new one of those though.:-)

Thanks for all of the support! I don't know what he was trying to say, I agree it made no sense. We have spoken since and he said he was drunk and he didn't mean it in a bad way, just trying to get me to try www.crossfit.com

I saw that comment in your comments. I thought to myself that his comment was a little rude, but sometimes I am real sensitive and defensive.

There are people in this world who I call haters and he would be one of them. There's a way to help people and a way not to help people. His way is the NOT way. Let that crap roll off your shoulder like water and keep it moving.
