Grandpa Died

I just found out like an hour ago that my Grandpa has died. He has been suffering for the last 6 months with multiple health issues. I am glad he isn't in pain anymore but we will miss him. I am sad right now.
My question is how do you deal with a death in the family? How do you grieve? I am just sad right now.
We all loved him!!

I am sorry for your loss. I am on bereavement right now myself, I lost my mom 3 days ago.

Here is what I think. Yes, I cried. Yes, I am sad. At times I am lost. But you have to keep living.

Breathe, because they can't.
Exercise because they can't.
Run because they can't.
Eat well because they can't.
LIVE, because they can't.

I feel that now I am doing it for 2. All the more determined.

I'm so sorry for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

The sadness is certainly a natural expression of your grief, and it's not necessarily something you get *over* so much as get *through*. In the days ahead your thoughts will turn to happier memories and relief that your Grandpa is no longer suffering, and you can truly celebrate his life and your gratitude that you were able to share in it. He was very fortunate to have people like you who loved him so much.

Oh, my sincere condolences to you. That is sad news.

Grieving is personal. To me, it always feels like I've been kicked in the stomach constantly for awhile.

But, I concentrate on the good memories and all of the good things I got from that person. Then I like to think that every time I think of that person, it is them checking up on me.

I am so sorry for your loss Emmett. Grieving is such a personal thing and everyone has a different way of dealing with it. However, there are generally 5 stages to grieving: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and eventually Acceptance.

When we buried my father, I was the only one in our immediate family who spoke at his funeral (mom and brother did not)In my case I said that I was grateful that everyone came to the funeral and shared their stories with us. I knew he was a good person and a good father/husband but it was so good to hear about him from the other peoples perspective. I also said that I hope to be able to make a mark on this planet as he did. He helped a lot of people and I aspire to do the same. My suggestion is to just do what comes naturally to you. I also would use any favorite poems or quotes.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Emmett

My grandfather also passed away last weekend. No matter how you slice it, grieving is really difficult. I'd recommend remembering the good times, it always makes me feel much better.
