Going back to Las Vegas

I plan on leaving Utica, NY for Las Vegas, NV tomorrow, Monday. I have been home for a week visiting family. Its had its ups and downs. The reason I was home was because my Grandma died. We had her service last Sunday and the buriel yesterday in Pennsylvania. We all will miss her.
Summary for the week. I probably should have kept a food log, but I just didn't want to think about it for the week. I eat decently, but did overeat a bit, and I drank a little more alcohol than normal. I did however run 4 times with my brothers while I was home. Each time was 4 miles or more. I felt good about that.
I haven't decided if I will go back to the food log right away or not. I think it does help and my coach at my weight loss challenge wants me to do it.

What I like

Best Weight Loss Programs – Herbalife Shapeworks

If you are looking for the best weight loss programs, one program that you absolutely should consider is the Shapeworks program by Herbalife. It is well known for is ability to help you lose weight and feel great in the process because the way the program is uniquely designed.

The key to effective weight loss is two fold.

#1 – Exercise to burn excessive fat.
#2 – Eat enough to meet your needs but not more than you can burn off.

You will of course have to develop the discipline to engage in a good exercise program. However, the Herbalife Shapeworks program can help you make sure that you don’t overeat so that you don’t gain excessive weight in the process.

One of the biggest contributors to excessive weight gain is unhealthy snacking. Unhealthy snacks that are high in fat causes you to pile on excessive calories. Unless you exercise more to counteract the fat gained from these snacks, you are bound to gain weight in the process.

Included in the Herbalife Shapeworks program are snack defense tablets. These tablets help you to suppress a desire for unhealthy snacks so that you aren’t constantly taking on unnecessary calories throughout the day. As a result, you can expect to see results within the first 30 days of being on the program.

Another challenge that many people find when looking for the best weight loss programs is to engage in a program that will keep you satisfied and energized. Too many diet programs fail in this regard, which is why so many people fail to keep the pounds off when they get on these programs.

The problem is if the program doesn’t keep you satisfied and energized, you are bound to cheat on the program. As a result, the program becomes unsustainable for you and you won’t get the benefits and the weight loss promises that the program advertises because you are unable to maintain the program.

The Herbalife Shapeworks program is one of the best weight loss programs because it is designed to include a number of snacks that will help you fight unnecessary hunger. As a result, you will be able to stay on the program because you won’t feel the excessive hunger pangs that accompany most weight loss programs.

So if you are looking for a program that is going to help you lose weight, feel great and is a program that is sustainable for the long term and not a short term fad, I highly recommend the Herbalife Shapeworks program. It is healthy, effective, proven and does an excellent job at helping you to lose weight.

So far today

Well I woke up and again had a big piece of Lasagna with two cookies and two cups of milk. After a while, I felt guilty about it. So I decided to go for a 4 mile run with my younger brother JJ. It felt great afterwards but during boy did I feel fat. I think all of the Lasagna I eat last night and this morning was hitting me. After the run I drank some Niteworks to avoid soreness and had a shake for dinner.
Tonight everyone wants to go out for drinks, we'll see how this goes. I plan on drinking light drinks, maybe mixed drinks with water.

Running, Lasagna

Well Today(Wednesday), I woke up around 1p.m., went to bed around 6a.m.. Had a shake first thing. Helped move some things from my late, Grandma's. Then did a little shopping, boring, but got what I needed. Had a 1/4lb of chicken at Wal Mart, I was soo hungry, wanted more but held myself at bay. Went running with my brother, 6.5 miles, wow, felt great! Then had my mothers Lasagna for dinner, with salad, and two rolls, plus two glasses of 1% milk, I love the milk in Utica, NY!! Its fresh, because there are milk cows all over the area.
I had two beers after dinner and then did some videos I am working on for my website. Around a.m., I was just starving and gave in and had more lasagna that was left over, did I tell you I love my mom's Lasagna!! Had two pieces, two cookies, and two cups of milk, everyone is sleeping, so noone was there to keep me in check. It tasted soo good, but I wish I just had my soup mix I get from herbalife, it would have held me over for the night. Anyways, its tough with great homemade food.
Hope everyone is doing well, will catch up on blogs soon.

Parties, Dinners

Well, I have been back home in Utica, NY for a couple days now and already, many temptations are around me. On Saturday I went to a Pirate Dress Up party with a campfire in the backyard. There was lots of food and lots of alocohol. I had only one plate of food and no dessert. As for the alcohol, I overdid it a bit. Aboutg four mixed drinks and four beers over 6 hours.
The next day, after the funeral service for my Grandma, we had a big dinner at my parents house. Lots of food and lots of beer again. Once again I was good and only had one full plate of food, and two cookies for desert, one glass of milk. Less beer but a couple still.
Later after the party last night, we went to a local bar and I had lots of drinks with my friends and then we went to a house party. Lots of fun, but I feel bad I am drinking soo much. Mostly social drinking.
Did some biking and running on Saturday. Nothing on Sunday. Monday, did some boating, not much exercise and helped move some furniture, better than nothing.

I think I will restart my food log after my vacation. I am getting frustrated I can't find the calories of many of the foods I have been eating on vacation. When I am in Vegas, it seems to be easier to keep track.

Had some great Chicken Riggies, a Utica special recipe. Look it up. Soo good!!

Saturday, Day 6 of Food Log, Pirate Party

I am in Utica, NY now and I had quit an interesting day. When I woke up around 10a.m. East Coast Time, my brother, his friend and I went bike riding for about an hour. After that we went to Babe's Macroni Grill, I tried to eat healthy, went soo-soo. I had a Turkey Wrap that had turkey, spinach, and a lot of cheese, a cantaloupe, sweat potato fries(if it says sweat potato, I seem to think its ok, but I know its still fried and not good), and a Saranc Root Beer(first time I had soda in a while) Utica's finest, and water.
When we got back my brother and I went for a 6.5 mile run near his house, up and down some crazy hills in New Hartford, NY(suburb of Utica). I wanted to quit a few times during the run, soo humid, 90 degrees and like 100% humidity and my food still wasn't completely digested, but I hung in there and just kept pushing. Besides I can't let my brother show me up, lol.
After that I wrote my Eulogy for my Grandma, I think it came out pretty good, but we will see what people think.
Then was the Pirate Party, at my brother and sister in law's friend's house in town. Lots of Alcohol and Food. I only went up once for food and I didn't have dessert, although I did snack on a little pizza again later, but not too much. Can't say that about the alcohol, at a party with a lot of women, I had to have some fun. I must have had one drink an hour for six hours. Probably had 6 drinks or more in total. Can't remember. I did have some interesting conversations with some of the women there, and I even kissed one of them at the end of the night, nothing more happens, but I had a good time.

In Utica, NY, Day 5 Food Log

Well I got out of bed very early for me this morning at 9:30a.m.. I took the flight at 1p.m. out of Las Vegas. Airports are tough on nutrition. At the Las Vegas airport after careful consideration I had a Beach Salad with Chicken from Sammy's Beach Bar and Grill. At the Chicago Airport I had a Pulled Pork Sandwich with coleslaw, fries(only had a couple) and milk. On the plane ride I had 1 100 calorie pack of oreos, 1 pack of nuts and one pack of pretzels.
On the plane ride I mostly read a book called "The Game : Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists" by Neil Strauss, New York Times Bestselling Author. The name might sound bad, but its really about human attraction and interacting with people. Its quit an interesting book. I really like it, it gives me good ideas about how to approach women I am interesting in. How to get them to look at me as more than just a "friend". Some interesting things in this one chapter are: 1. Cesaria Evora, a diva from the Cape Verde Islands has some very sensual music, good to keep in mind 2. "Some people spend their lives trying to fill a hole in their sole. When women don't absorb that emptiness, they look to something bigger: God" 3. "Simply finding out that you have a passion for something another person also likes and respects is enough to fire that strange emotion we call chemistry."

Food Log:

Breakfast: Bowl of Oatmeal squares cereal with milk- 260 calories, 6 grams of protein

2 Herbal Tea's: (-160) calories

Lunch: 2 Bud Lights, Beach Salad with Chicken from Sammy's Beach Bar and Grill (no idea how many calories, can't find it anywhere) Beer is 220 calories

Snack: Pretzels

Late night drink: Draft Cider- 200 calories

My totals I can't figure out today, low on water, low on protein, no clue on calories

Let It Ride, Food Log Day 4

Well today they put me on Let It Ride at work, man was it boring. But I did talk to a guy from Cleveland for a while and he was pretty cool. The one girl stopped by very briefly, couldn't get her number though, guess I won't be seeing her again. I thought she was interested too. The other girl I did get a text from but a brief text and nothing more, I guess she was too busy partying somewhere.

Breakfast: Cereal with milk: 250 calories, 6 grams of protein

Crazy night, Food Log Day 3

Lately I have been metioning from time to time, how frustrated I am with the lack of dating, casual or otherwise, I have been doing lately. Well tonight at work I got scheduled for War, which is like the simpliest game on the casino floor. I was like dreading it at the beginning of the night, figured I would be bored all night. Well come to find out, its a chick magnet, girls just love to play the game, I guess because its soo easy to play. I usually deal dice and not too many girls play it. Well long story short, I met a Viateneme girl from Seattle, that said she will be looking for me tomorrow, didn't get her number but the flirting was fun. Then later, I met a girl that is from Albany, an hour and a half from where I am from. We chatting and flirted and she ended up giving me her number. Who knew it would be a fun night dealing war. Anyways sorry to go off subject, just wanted to share. So here's my food log for the day:

oh and to answer some comments/questions, if you aren't getting enough nutrion, you might need more calories, but I am convident with my tablets and shakes I get from herbalife, I get enough nutrition. According to a scale I have without exercise, I burn at rest 1808-1932 calories a day, needs to be less than that to lose weight, with exercise I can have a little more

I am speaking at my Grandma funeral service, any ideas about an outline to use?

Have a great day everyone!!

I want to go work out and run or something but I also just want to sulk.

Eat, Sleep, Drink

Well I was down 1lb for the week at the Weight Loss Challenge on Sunday afternoon. Although its still good I was down a pound, I was disappointed. I eat pretty good all week and worked out pretty good. However, I will admit that I might have overeaten, even though the food was healthy. Also I drank a little alcohol after work almost everyday, and on Saturday, I drank a lot because of my friends birthday.
I worked Sunday 8p.m.-4a.m.. The whole day Sunday I was doing good, until I got out of work at 4a.m.. I went to the local bar, had three mixed drinks, cheese curds-soo good, at Big Dogs here in Las Vegas and then I came home and eat two 100 calorie packs with milk. I finially got to sleep and I slept all day until 6p.m..
I am very frustrated that I am still single. I am reading a book right now about what women are looking for kinda. Its giving me some ideas. I'm making a little effort with the online dating and with Craigs list, but here in Vegas, Craigs list for personals is more like a hooker sheet. My reason "WHY" for losing weight, getting tone, going to the gym a ton, running etc. is mostly because I am soo upset that I can't find what I had in 2002, a great relationship with a women. I've had plenty of flings, but really no serious girlfriends since 2002. I don't know where to look.
I hear people say your in Vegas, and I say exactly, good for hookups but not always good for relationships. Especially when you work nights, 8p.m.-4a.m.. I am hoping through my social networks of the weight loss challenge, and herbalife that I might be able to find the right one.

From Losing it In Vegas Blog

I thought this was an awesome post by my friend and colleague Vicky, whose blog is
"Losing It In Vegas"
What Does Fat Do For You?

Something I have been thinking about lately. What does fat do for me? I honestly think when we get to the bottom of that question, the battle is half done. Let's be real. Most of us know how to lose weight, though we might falter with "miracle" diets and cures from time to time. Most of us have lost a lot of weight, only to put it right back on again (and usually a bit more). Let's take the physiology out of it. Let's deal with the psychological aspects. The first question you should answer is "Why am I fat?". Okay, go ahead, take the easy way out and say "Because I eat too much". We all eat too much, that's how we ended up where we are today. But why do we do that? Comfort is a big one. Stress. Celebrations. Trying to dull the pain. Boredom. Whatever reason you have is your reason, and is fine. But...now here comes the tough part...Why is food our "band aid"? Therein lies the answer to the question. Look closely at the times in your life when you were either gaining or losing and what was the catalyst to start that process, and there you will find some answers. Now think about what fat does for you. We all know it isn't healthy, it isn't pretty and it isn't what our bodies are intended for....so then why? Why fat? For me, fat is something I can hide behind. It is my protection. My security blanket, if you will. If a lover rejects me, it wasn't because there was something fundamentally wrong with the relationship (or worse yet, me), it was because I was fat. If I didn't get something I wanted, I could blame the fat. I am an incorrigible flirt, and when I am fat no one takes it seriously (which it usually isn't anyway). I can be funny and even if the joke doesn't work, people laugh because you are now the "funny fat girl". And yes, I get compared to Rosie O'Donnell and Rosanne quite a bit. Fat is also a fence. It separates me from others. Emotionally and physically. There were many times in my life where I thought that was a good thing. It's one more barrier for someone to overcome if they want to get close. One more "test" to prove if they are worthy. I always thought that if someone could like me when I was fat, they liked me for me and not for my physical presence.I have already discussed my hoarding. (A post that seems so long ago after all I have been through...) I think that fat is also an extension of that. Run out of cupboard space? Refrigerator space? That's okay, I have a great storage space. My stomach. And if that's full, let's put it around the hips. I have already dealt with the hoarding. I gave away 2 freezers and am now down to one small one, a mini fridge for sodas and water, and my regular refrigerator. It is almost empty really (especially the last 2 weeks, we are doing a lot of fast food with my ugly hectic schedule)....and it doesn't bother me in the least. My pantry isn't bare, but it's not stocked up either. I actually had to clean the back of the shelves. Probably the first time they had seen daylight in 3 years. Now I must deal with my blanket. Somewhere along the way, my security blanket started to smother me rather than comfort me. And that is the difference this time. While I know that being fit won't fundamentally change who I am, I look forward to the courage to face rejection and pain without wrapping my blanket around myself. I think that though the pain may be hard to take, the beauty that it will wrought will be worth every tear.So that's what fat does for me. What does it do for you?

This blog made me think about why we become fat instead of the fact that we overeat. For me I overeat mostly because I am down on my luck, I get depressed and upset that life isn't what I want it to be and then I overeat, overdrink, overgamble, oversleep, you name it.

Late night snack

Well I got home from work and I was starving, so instead of snacking on my usual wheat thins or something else fatty, I decided to have a nutrious shake, that I get through herbalife. As you can see from the diagram above it has a lot of nutrition in it, plus it fills me up and it less than 200 calories.
My day went ok. Woke up later than I should have, like normal. Partly waking up late is my way of not dealing with life sometimes. I need to find something exciting that gets me out of bed.

No Exercise today, but my food log was good:

Cherrie Tomatoes
Beans- lb a lot but still healthy for you and has protein in it
Blueberries and milk in a bowl
Lots of herbal tea, this control my appeptite soo well, I love it!
2 shakes
2 pears

My friend sent me this story about a friend:

"I've spent my entire life being overweight. I've spent it dieting and failing. In January I topped the scales at 410 pounds, and I had resigned myself to always being fat. To always being left out. To always being the butt of jokes. I had resigned myself to the fact that one day my obesity was going to kill me. I was tired of my failures. Then I found ******** and I realized an important thing. I wasn't going to find happiness in being thin. And, that the best I could do for myself was to become healthy. In achieving that goal, weight loss would be a side effect. I've lost almost 20 pounds since then. It doesn't seem like a huge number for 8 months, but I started small. I started with one thing. Drinking water. Once it became habit I added another thing. As long as it took, I stuck with it.Today, the weight is starting to come off faster as I have many new habits. I...- drink 8-12 glasses of water-eat 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables-get at least 8 hours of sleep every night-eat only lean meats-exercise everyday-take vitamins to supplement where my diet fails (I don't like fish)-get 2-3 servings of calcium everyday-do not eat junk food, fast food, candy, or soda-take time everyday to breath and meditate-eat only whole grains-quit smoking!!!!And, guess what. I feel great! I feel better than great. I feel alive. So, I went to the doctor and guess what.... I'm healthier than I've ever been in my life. My cholesterol is great, my blood pressure is normal (which it hasn't been in quite some time), my blood glucose is normal (which means I am NOT diabetic), and my triglycerides are normal.AND, I FEEL ALIVE!!!!! And, I'm started doing things that I never thought I would ever accomplish. I even climbed a mountain. And if I can do it, so can you. Pay more attention to being healthy than being skinny."

Pretty inspriational!!

Weight Loss Challenge

Today I started a new weight loss challenge with a couple other distributors. They aren't part of the challenge just coaching, but I am part of it. I need to lose another 15lbs and get down to 155lbs.
Today we talked about protein. A couple things I learned about protein. One for optimal weight loss I should be taking in about 138g of protein a day. A couple other things: when protein is absorbed, it sends a signal to the brain to decrease your hunger, whole grains provide protein, protein makes it possible for blood to carry oxygen throughout the body, protein is a "macronutrien" meaning the body needs relatively large amount of it.

Food log:
Red Lobster: 2 muffins, Salmon with Rice and shrimp
Lots of tea
Chicken Wrap
alcohol- hay my day off

I ran 4 miles in the 100 plus heat here in Las Vegas. Wow was it hot. Dehydrated and exhuasted afterwards. Went to my weight loss challenge, last day of the 3 month challenge, small class but I got second place. Having a shake right now. Have to go to work in an hour. Lost 10lbs in 4 days, as you can see in the scale. Ran all four days and had two shakes at least a day, plus salads, incredible! I feel soo good right now!!

So Far Today

Well I woke up at 12:30p.m.. I had a cup of Raspberry Tea. Now at 1:45p.m., I have having a shake, picture above. Weight Loss Challenge is at 3:30p.m.. I might go for a quick run before I leave.

Quick update

Its 10:50p.m., I just got back from the gym, soo tired and thirty, drinking lots of water and mango aloe. Bored, want to go out but don't want the alcohol calories, especially since tomorrow is the last day of a weight loss challenge I am in.
Any ideas for a webcam? video recorder? I am new to all this camera, webcams and video recorder, never used them much. I like what I see on other blogs though. Like Tony's blog' and Ron's blog.
